If someone had told me how frustrating it is to raise a 4 year old I think I would have run screaming into the wilderness. Every day I go through a full range of emotions with him: anger, love, exasperation, pride etc. I'm trying my best to parent this 'spirited' child but some days.....
Wyatt actually pressed the button to take this photo and I'm glad he caught us both smiling. It proves that through it all we still love eachother unconditionally.
Can someone tell me if 5 is better or should I put on my running shoes now???

I concur. 100%. We're just starting 4 though...you're almost done. Hope 5 is better!
you know, i think thats why i waited as long as i did before i settled down, and even when i had my first child ( at 31) i still thought i wasnt ready...but my children have taught me to love unconditionally, and for that, i am truly grateful..its all part of beign a parent shelby...things do get easier...i have two boys, 3 yrs apart, and every day is different....and i thank God for each one with them...
It truly does get easier Shelby! My younger son was the definition of a strong-willed child. We had constant conflicts from the time he could walk and talk. A firm resolve to stay in control as parents, and yet let his own personality develop in a healthy way, was key for us. He will turn 16 on Sunday and we have to say he is a truly delightful, polite, caring young man - an absolute gift. Hang in there friend!
Most people tell you that the 2's may be terrible, but 4's have always been the effin 4s but luckily the 5's are definitely fantastic! You're almost there and it really does get easier as they become more independent although they do like to challenge your requests most of the time and there is alot more negotiations! BTW... I also go through the whole range of emotions daily.
No one makes us want to tear our hair out like our children but in the next moment our hearts are bursting with love & pride. It is just part of this fabulous crazy roller coaster ride that is parenthood. It makes us crazy but we love it!
Such an adorable picture of you and your little guy!
Five is awesome especially when parenting boys!! Five and six year old boys are totally in love with their Moms! When timmy turned five he told me hourly how much he loved me, he too is spirited, but a joy just the same. It just keeps on getting better.... until they are teens, then I do suggest running shoes... just to stay that one step ahead!
My boys are just under three years apart. They are 8 and 11 and they BOTH keep me on my toes...... so yeah, get yourself some good runners, you are gonna need em. :) On a good note, there are lots of laughs, smiles, and tender loving moments along the way!
ENJOY!
