September design team reveal

It's time again for another design team reveal. This month's kit featured papers and embellishments from Scenic Route. When I first saw the kit I thought 'wow, that's a lot of pink'. I love pink but having two boys doesn't usually require a lot of pink on layouts. Nevertheless I set out to search my photos for pics that would work. I did a wedding layout (pics from almost 6 years ago), a pic I took of Wyatt and I goofing around in the backyard from this summer and one I took of my friend's little girl Mia on her third birthday at the beginning of August.

Everything was in the design team kit except a few black mini brads, some rubons and a little bit of pink bling.
It's hard to tell in photos but I used lots of glossy accents, stickles and my new glitter pen to accent the flowers and dots.

I also designed 2 cards this month instead of one because I had so much to work with. I did add the cream flowers, ribbon and bit of chipboard.

I'm really having a lot of fun working on these kits every month.

Not only am I getting to work with products I may not have chosen I am managing to keep my scrap mojo flowing too!

Check out http://www.twoscrapbookfriends.com/photopost/ to see all the creations this month.

september product challenge

Every month TSF puts together a small, inexpensive kit for a challenge. You make a layout using a bit of everything in the kit, post your layout in the gallery and have a chance to win next month's kit and a $10 gift certificate. I am on the design team so I don't win anything but I do get to make a fun layout! This kit officially comes out Sept 1 but I was able to pick mine up a bit early and couldn't wait to put it together. Everything was in the kit except for the letter stickers. The kit was school themed and I couldn't really find any pics that related so I gave Holden an A+ in cute-ology (made up my own subject!).

The A+ and cute- are pop dotted to add a little dimension.

These monthly kits go very quickly so I suggest stopping in early in the month to pick one up.

a little bit of scrap time...

I've managed to get a few layouts done besides the design team layouts which will be posted next week. I did a couple for my tips on doodling for the TSF blog and then one just because. My room is sort of back to normal, meaning it's organized chaos.

I started this layout at the CHA preview crop and thankfully I was able to use TSF's punches to cut out all those circles. I added faux stitching and some doodling around the circles to make them pop a bit more. This picture of my crazy kid makes me laugh!

My first wedding layout ever. I doodled the background using a Crafter's Workshop template. For the title I wanted something sheer and romantic so I cut the words out of vellum using the Cricut.

Many of you know that we had a truckload of sand dumped at the cottage this summer. It's pretty much been Wyatt's domain since then. For the title I took some cheap, mismatched chipboard letters and peeled off the surface. I then sanded and covered them with Glimmer Mist in tattered leather. I've heard raves about this stuff, have even used it (thanks Karan) and now I am the proud owner of my very first bottle. I'm sure there will be many more added to my collection in the near future.

That's all for now. Off to put on some woolies. Who knew Fall arrives in August now??

bye bye baby hair

I knew I was attached to my hair but I had no idea how attached I was to Holden's hair until it was all laying in a pile in my sister's sink. His hair had gotten quite long, I was starting to get the 'what a cute girl' comments. It curled so beautifully but the poor guy was sweating buckets in the middle of our mini heatwave. So we went to my sister's house for a cut.

BEFORE:

(experiencing a lovely case of bed head)

DURING: (so hilarious watching his expressions in the mirror)

He was so good about sitting still...he was almost in a trance

The novelty did start to wear off though

And here he is ..... my grown up looking almost 3 year old..

I know it will grow back and I know he looks cute no matter what but ....I miss it!!!
So now I need a haircut. Going to have to work up the courage on that one.

ooooh so frustrating...

So I got a virus. Well I didn't get the virus, my computer did. I used to have really strong anti-virus protection but switched it not too long ago and it seems that one got through and now my computer is frozen. Thankfully I have a laptop a friend lent me so I can still access the internet [otherwise it would really be a crisis!!! ;)] and do the basic things I need to do. My fil is a computer 'genius' and will fix it when he gets back from Greece next month. In the mean time I'll have to get by.

Now, more than ever I wish I understood computers more. I only know basics, none of the behind the scenes stuff at all. Perhaps I need to take a few computer courses. Hmmm, something to think about.

home from vay-k and back to the everyday

Who knew two weeks could fly by so quickly?

We were away at our cottage in Oliphant (near Sauble Beach and Wiarton) and actually managed to score some wonderful weather. We had rain only the first day and one other night. Not too bad when you consider the summer we've had so far. It was so relaxing!! I managed to read 2 books and do some scrapbooking too. The boys had a great time swimming, playing in the sand, frog/bug hunting and going for lots of firewood treks in the bush.

We are so lucky that we have such a great place to go to get away from the craziness of city life. I am very grateful to my inlaws who go away to Greece for 4 months and leave the cottage to us. We are heading up there for another week or two at the beginning of September. Fingers crossed Mother Nature cooperates again!
